The SoCal Story...
The United States Marine Corps and Made Ready to Eat Meals (MRE’S) are at the heart of our inspiration. It was during deployment in Fallujah Iraq that Tom Geist discovered that a good hot sauce shower can make anything taste better. It was here that his lifelong love for hot sauce became an addiction.
After orders relocated his family to North Carolina, Tom realized something was missing, the classic flavors of Southern California taco shop sauces he grew up with. After searching high and low he decided that the solution was to create his own Southern California taqueria style sauce. Blending the flavors of his upbringing with backyard grown peppers and family recipes from San Angelo, Texas and Morelia, Mexico, Tom created his first batch of SoCal Hot Sauces. After satisfying the demand of family and friends, Tom started selling his sauces at his local yard sale web site in Snead’s Ferry, NC. And just like that, SoCal Hot Sauce was born.
